House Bill 4471 is a de facto ban on Glock pistols in Illinois. During committee debate, State Rep. C.D. Davidsmeyer (R-Murrayville) said Illinois needs crime control, not gun control.
“Banning Glocks will do nothing to stop gun crime,” Rep. Davidsmeyer said. “Switches are already illegal and violent criminals don’t follow our existing gun laws. We need crime control, not gun control.
“During committee debate, I asked the Democrat sponsor of the Glock ban if he owned a firearm, which he did not. I am tired of people who choose not to exercise their Second Amendment rights attempting to take away my constitutional rights as a law-abiding gun owner.”
Davidsmeyer voted against the gun grab bill, which passed on a partisan roll call of 9-5-0. HB 4471 advanced to the House floor for a possible final vote before the scheduled end of session on May 31.
