Volunteers distribute free turkeys at Jacksonville Area Community Food Center. People were lined up at 7:30 a.m. Monday for the giveaway that started at 9 a.m., according to center administrator Melissa Hall. By 9:15 a.m., only a dozen of the 125 available turkeys remained.
The giveaway was sponsored by Sen. Jil Tracy, Rep. C.D. Davidsmeyer, Jacksonville Mayor Andy Ezard, Ware Brands and Meridian. Ezard, Davidsmeyer, representatives of Tracy’s office, food center volunteers and students in Jacksonville School District 117’s Transitional Adult Program helped with the distribution.
