Rep. Davidsmeyer Recognizes Jacob Williams for Elks “Hoop Shoot” Accomplishments

State Rep. C.D. Davidsmeyer (100th District) welcomed nine-year-old free throw shooter Jacob Williams to the State Capitol recently and recognized his recent success at the Elks Grand Lodge National Hoop Shoot Championship held in Illinois. The son of Sean and Katie Williams and a student at Winchester Elementary School in rural Scott County, Jacob placed third having made 22 out of 25 shots and then breaking a tie with two others in a shoot-out where he made 5 of 5 shots.

Rep. Davidsmeyer’s comments on the House Floor

Jake earned his way to the National Championship by previously placing first at the Jacksonville Elks Hoop Shoot, the District Hoop Shoot in Jacksonville, the Illinois Hoop Shoot in Springfield, and the Regional Hoop Shoot competition in Iowa City, Iowa.

Jake began playing basketball at the age of four, following in the footsteps of his brother, father, and grandfather who all played when they were younger. You may read the full text of House Resolution 726 HERE.
