State Rep. C.D. Davidsmeyer (100th District) welcomed the Jacksonville High School J’ettes Dance Team to the State Capitol on behalf of himself and State Rep. Randy Frese (99th District) and passed House Resolution 661 to Congratulate the J’ettes Dance Team on winning the 2024 Illinois High School Association (IHSA) Class 1A Competitive Dance Championship.
The text of the House Resolution 661:
WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate the Jacksonville High School dance team, the J’ettes, on winning the 2024 Illinois High School Association (IHSA) Class 1A Competitive Dance Championship for the second year in a row; and
WHEREAS, The IHSA Class 1A Competitive Dance Division, which is divided into five sectionals consisting of approximately 90 dance teams, was held at the Grossinger Motors Arena in Bloomington from January 26 to January 27, 2024; and WHEREAS, The J’ettes passed the preliminary round on January 26, where the top 30 teams competed for the final12 spots, advancing to compete in the finals on January 27; and
WHEREAS, The J’ettes finished with a score of 90.70, just edging ahead of Morris Community High School, which scored 89.96; and
WHEREAS, The J’ettes successfully competed in three different organizations, IHSA, the Illinois Drill Team Association (IDTA), and the Universal Dance Association (UDA); and
WHEREAS, The J’ettes were named both the AA Lyrical and Open Pom Dance Champions and the AA Grand Champions at the 2024 IDTA State Finals; and
WHEREAS, The J’ettes also made it to the semi-finals with their lyrical routine at the 2024 UDA National Competition Orlando, Florida; and
WHEREAS, The J’ettes’ spectacular showcase at the IHSA Class 1A Competitive Dance Finals made its hometown of Jacksonville extremely proud, and its dancers’ hard work and determination to win will never be forgotten; and
WHEREAS, The J’ettes are led by Coaches Tiffany Hickox and Sarah Van Aken; and
WHEREAS, The J’ettes team consists of 14 dancers, including four seniors, Jacey Evans, Lindsey Hautala, Kimmy Davis, and Manager Lily Rohlk; six juniors, Kylie Chumley, Emma Wolters, Elizabeth Stremming, Hailey Weeks, Samantha Lawson, and Manager Marley Van Aken; two sophomores, Greta Bryson-Adams and Lily Hickox; and two freshmen, Lauren Deen and Charlotte Brockhouse; therefore, be it
RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the Jacksonville High School dance team, the J’ettes, on winning the 2024 Illinois High School Association (IHSA) Class 1A Competitive Dance Championship; and be it further
