State Representative C.D. Davidsmeyer (R-Murrayville) is sponsoring his summer reading club this year for Kindergarten through 5th Grade students in the 100th District. Children who read ten or more books will receive a certificate of accomplishment. Any library in the district who has ten or more readers will receive a pizza party at the end of the summer for the readers.
“It is important that our children continue to read when they are out for the summer to maintain the reading levels they reach in class and are ready to start the next school year,” said Rep. Davidsmeyer, a former library board trustee. “Reading allows kids to explore the world and develop critical thinking on a variety of subjects; from adventures, science, and nature to poetry, history and the arts.”
