Springfield, IL…Assistant Republican Leader C.D. Davidsmeyer (R-Jacksonville) released the following statement on the budget, Senate Bill 262, which passed the House tonight 83-35-0.
“Last year I was one of 18 who did not support the budget because it wasn’t balanced. It did not pay down old bills and did not fully-fund our pension obligations. Last year’s budget ignored court-ordered step increases for state employees.
“This year’s budget is completely different. It is a balanced budget. It pays down old bills and fully-funds our pensions. And unlike previous budgets it pays all back pay to state employees.
“There is no such thing as a perfect budget. But this year on top of a truly balanced budget, House Republicans were able to negotiate pro-job and pro-growth reforms that have been part of our agenda for years.
“With all of the negative things coming out of Springfield it is nice to have some positive things to share with the people of Illinois.
