Davidsmeyer passes bill to increase research in Pediatric Cancer

Rep Davidsmeyer presents Jonny Wade’s bill

Springfield, IL…Jonny Wade’s lasting memory will continue on with passage of Rep. C.D. Davidsmeyer’s (R-Jacksonville) Pediatric Cancer Awareness specialty license plate.  “This specialty license plate will grow awareness of pediatric cancer and help fund research and treatment grants in Illinois,” said Davidsmeyer.

Jonny Wade was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor when he was seven years old.  He died one year later on Christmas Eve 2015.  It is now the Wade Family’s mission to conquer pediatric cancer through their “Kids Shouldn’t Have Cancer Foundation.”

Senate Bill 946 unanimously passed the House on Tuesday and heads back to the Senate for concurrence before going to the Governor.

“The Wade family and many others are working to eradicate pediatric cancer and this specialty plate will help conquer cancer.  Jonny’s legacy will live on with research and development grants that this plate will fund.
