Davidsmeyer’s Statement on FutureGen

JACKSONVILLE –State Representative C.D. Davidsmeyer (R-Jacksonville) issued the following statement on FutureGen:

“I am extremely disappointed that President Obama has decided not to build the clean coal electric generation plant – FutureGen. It is ridiculous to waste an opportunity to use a resource from right here at home in an environmentally friendly way.

“I appreciate the hard work of so many men and women who have worked to bring the FutureGen plant to our area. I deeply regret the federal government’s decision to scrap a project that would have provided an opportunity for environmentally friendly use of domestic coal and brought much needed jobs to the area. It also seems like a lost opportunity to prove that the government can work well with a private entity in a public-private partnership.”
